Welcome to the Newsletter Glue newsletter. Once a month, we publish product updates and our top newsletter tips. As a subscriber, you’ll be the first to hear about all our promotions.

Introducing the Newsletter Editor

Hey there, and thanks for reading our first ever newsletter.

Before I go further, I just want to apologise again for yesterday’s accidental emails and say thank you for understanding!

I’m actually really excited for this newsletter not only because it’s our first, but also because it was written in our brand new Newsletter Editor.

There’s nothing like dog-fooding your own product! We managed to find and squish a lot of bugs just by writing this newsletter.

By the time you read this, you should already be able to update your plugin and get the new features.

At this point, I’m sure you must be asking…

What is the Newsletter Editor?

Well, it’s a dedicated newsletter editor that sits separately from the post editor (where you currently write your newsletter with Newsletter Glue).

This makes writing newsletters more intuitive, gives you more powerful features, and improves compatibility with page builders and other plugins.

The best way to learn about the new features and how to use them is by watching this 13-minute tutorial:

This month’s top newsletter tips

For this first issue, I thought I’d share some of the amazing newsletter and email communities I’m a part of.

I’ve consistently gotten value out of the 4 communities I’m recommending below. If you write newsletters, I highly recommend you check them out.

In fact, some of you reading this newsletter are probably nodding right now because that’s how you met me or found out about Newsletter Glue!

Newsletter Creators – Facebook group

This Facebook group is one of the first newsletter communities I joined. It has welcoming vibes and is great for beginner and intermediate newsletter writers.

Josh Spector who runs it has made a career helping people grow and improve their newsletters. In fact, he recently posted that he’ll be doing a free newsletter review for some members. If you could benefit from his help, you’ll enjoy this group.

Newsletter Nerds – Facebook group

This group has a lot of overlaps with Newsletter Crew but, as the name suggests, it’s nerdier 🤓.

Founder Ernie Smith has mentioned to me that that he doesn’t shy away from writing and talking about the technical details of running a newsletter. So if you’re looking for help with setting up a paid newsletter outside of Substack or you want to nerd out about deliverability, this is a great place to do it.

Email Geeks – Slack group

Speaking of nerds… Email Geeks takes things to a whole other level. If you’re looking to QA a dark mode-friendly email to send to your 1mil subscribers, this group can help you without breaking a sweat. Dylan Smith, a UX Engineer at Litmus, is one of the admins of the community, so you know you’re in good hands when it comes to the technical details.

Note: You’re not really going to find talk about growing Substack newsletters here. This is more for large scale email marketing and code.

Newsletter Crew – Discord

Ali Montag, who recently took over Newsletter Crew from Yaro Bagriy, is a former CNBC reporter and runs this community with a focus on high quality writing.

As the only paid community on this list, you can be sure of high quality members who are serious about newsletters.

Aside from writing, this group also chats about growth and tech. It’s a great place to meet fellow newsletter writers and do cross-promotions to mutually grow your newsletters.

If you join any of these communities, be sure to say hello! 👋

And that’s it for our very first product update and newsletter tips.

Ahmed and I are really proud of what we’ve built so far and excited for you to play around with the new features.

If you have feedback please let me know so that we can improve and make Newsletter Glue better for you.

Best,

Lesley
