How to replace old blocks with new v3 blocks

With version 3, your old v2 blocks and core WordPress blocks will no longer be editable.

They are still viewable to your site visitors, but you will no longer be able to edit those blocks using the v3 editor. If you have no need to edit an old campaign, you do not need to touch them.

However, your newsletter templates will need to be updated so that you can continue to use them with the new editor.

Specifically, you will need to manually replace all v2 and core blocks with our new v3 blocks.

Here’s how to replace your blocks:

Step 1. Open your newsletter template.

Go to Templates & Styles then select the template you want to edit. Click Edit.

Step 2. Open list view to see all your blocks.

Inside the email editor, click on the list view icon on the top left hand corner of the page.

You’ll see a dropdown of all the blocks you’ve used in your template.

Step 3. Replace blocks.

One by one, you will need to manually replace each block with its new v3 equivalent. And then delete the old one.

3.1. Recreate the block with its v3 equivalent

3.2. Check if a block is old or new by checking to see if the mobile tab exists. If there is a mobile tab, it’s a v3 block. If there isn’t a mobile tab, it’s an old block or a core block – both need to be replaced.

3.3. Once you’ve added your v3 equivalent, delete the old block.

3.4. Keep going, until you’ve replaced every block in your newsletter template.
