Co-founder of Newsletter Glue

On 18 Feb 2022, we updated our pricing to better reflect what users need from Newsletter Glue.

This includes a price increase to allow us to serve customers better and for the long run. In comparison, and to be perfectly honest, our original price felt like the price you’d pay for someone’s side project.

We’re growing, we’re serious, and our pricing should reflect that.

Our new pricing reflects the two customer types we’ve identified after lots of customer research. Specifically:

  1. Writers whose main struggle is staying consistent with their newsletters. They want a solution that removes as many obstacles as possible and makes it so easy that they almost can’t help but publish more often.
  2. Publishers trying to save time for their teams. They send multiple newsletters every week and need a tool that’s easy, flexible and fast to use.

With our new pricing, we hope to better cater for both types of users.

Head here if you just want to check out our new pricing right away.

The new pricing

We now have two main pricing tiers: Writer and Publisher.

The Writer license starts at $149/year and is best for independent creators, bloggers and newsletter writers.

The Publisher license starts at $249/year and is best for professional publications, online businesses, and newsrooms.

With the new pricing packages, pricing is now split across two axes: number of licenses and features.

So a customer can now get the basic features they need in Writer, and purchase more or less licenses depending on their requirements. Or vice versa.

This means that customers no longer have to upgrade to a more expensive plan, with advanced features you don’t need, just because you want more licenses.

It also means customers with advanced needs but just one site can purchase just one Publisher license.

This makes things more flexible for everyone.

Email integrations are now different between the two pricing tiers

The Writer tier now has access to 6 email integrations, while the Publisher tier has access to all 11 integrations.

We did this to better reflect the usage of our customers and the level of complexity of the integrations.

Writer tier email integrations: Mailchimp, MailerLite, Mailjet, Moosend, Sendy, and Sendgrid.

Publisher tier email integrations: Mailchimp, MailerLite, Mailjet, Moosend, Sendy, Sendgrid, ActiveCampaign, Campaign Monitor, GetResponse, Sendinblue, and Klaviyo.

Existing customers: No changes or impact for you. If you were previously on the Writer tier and using ActiveCampaign, you can continue to do so.

If we make any changes to your pricing tiers, integrations or features, we will be sure to let you know ahead of time. But there are currently no plans to do so.

New features in the Publisher tier

We’ve also given the Publisher tier an “upgrade”. Features that were previously only available in the Newsroom tier (more on that later) are now also available in Publisher. This includes static site compatibility and user permissions.

We have a lot of medium to large publishers who have a team of editors, writers, and developers who use Newsletter Glue. With this pricing update, these users can now have refined control over user permissions to ensure the right people get access to the right features.

Existing customers: To access use permissions features, you will have to upgrade your license. Head to newsletterglue.com/account to login and upgrade.

Newsroom tier

The Newsroom tier has been around for awhile, but is not part of our core offering.

It’s a bespoke service for larger newsrooms (estimated 1 mil monthly users or more) with more advanced needs and requirements. Pricing is highly dependent on the scope of your publishing platform and what you need done.

We previously developed user permissions at the request of one of our customers on this tier, but realised it was a feature that other customers would also want and added this to the Publisher tier.

30 day money-back guarantee

We’ve also expanded our money-back guarantee from 14 days to 30 days. We’ve always had great feedback on our onboarding and how easy it is to get set up. With the 30 days guarantee, customers now have ample time to get settled into their new publishing workflow without having to worry about any looming deadlines.

No change for existing customers

We went to great lengths to ensure there would be no change for existing customers. Your pricing and features remain exactly the same and you’ll still get support and updates. If you renew your plan, you will renew at the same price you originally paid.

As the plugin evolves, we might add new features to the new tiers and you might have to upgrade if you want them (similar to what I said above with the user permissions feature). But this is all optional and we’ll let you know when new features are launched. Currently, we have no plans to change your pricing in any way.

What’s next?

We have a lot of exciting new features and integrations planned for both tiers.

We’ll really be leaning into our two goals for our two tiers:

  1. Writer: Helping remove obstacles to make it easy for writers to stay consistent with their newsletters.
  2. Publisher: Scaling their newsletter operations. Making it much faster to create templates and publish high engagement newsletters as a team.
